At AgroEnterprise Mission, we believe that empowering women is the seed of true community transformation. When we began our work in Geniue Bisassu, our first goal was to give women access to sustainable agriculture and clean water, enabling them to feed themselves, support their families, and contribute to the local food economy.
But as we worked alongside these women, another urgent need emerged: their children. These bright, promising young minds were being left behind due to a lack of basic education. While women were gaining independence through farming and food security, their children remained without the tools to dream, learn, and pursue better futures.
From Seeds to Classrooms: How the Vision Grew
Our journey began with small, meaningful steps. We distributed seeds, secured farmland, and supported women farmers as they learned to grow food and build resilience. Alongside this progress, we found ourselves informally teaching children one-on-one, in our spare time.
It was rewarding but exhausting. Soon, we realised that the need for education in Geniue Bisassu Community was too great for an improvised approach. The children had big dreams, but without structured education, those dreams were slipping further out of reach. Through empowerment, we realised we cannot stop with mothers alone; it must include the next generation.
Building a Classroom: A New Beginning
With limited resources but unwavering determination, we took action. Our dream was simple: give the children of Geniue Bisassu a place to learn together.
After months of effort, we finally built a modest classroom. For the first time, children could gather in a dedicated learning space, share knowledge, and experience the joy of education. It was a milestone that marked the beginning of a new chapter for the community.
But challenges remain. The classroom is functional, but it lacks essentials such as desks, books, and child-friendly learning materials. Our vision is to create not just a classroom, but a truly conducive learning environment where children are inspired to imagine a brighter future.
